NewsACCESS Recognized by The Association of Independent Colleges and Univerisities of Massachusetts Boston – December 9, 2009 - ACCESS is proud to announce that it has received this year’s Champion of ACCESS award from the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (AICUM) at their recent Annual Dinner for its success in increasing college access for low-income students in Boston and Springfield. ACCESS Expands to Springfield September 18, 2009 - ACCESS is proud to announce that, this September, ACCESS will bring our financial aid advising and scholarship programs to the students and families of Springfield! This will be the first such time that ACCESS will offer its services outside of Boston and represents the culmination of a fiscal year that has seen dramatic growth in the organization’s programming. ACCESS to Join New College Completion Initiative July 7, 2009 - In response to last year’s troubling report that found only 35.5% of the Boston Public Schools Class of 2000 graduated from college within seven years, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, The Boston Foundation and the Boston Public Schools have joined in an effort to increase the college success rate of Boston students through a new college completion initiative called Success Boston. This new initiative has recruited ACCESS, along with several other area nonprofits, join together to provide students with comprehensive assistance and guidance throughout their college career. Non-profit veteran hired to lead charge July 7, 2009 - ACCESS is excited to announce that Erin Cox Weinberg will be joining the ACCESS Staff as Chief Program Officer this August. She will be leading ACCESS in numerous programmatic growth projects, including ACCESS’s expansion to Springfield and Boston's College Completion Initiative.
December 10, 2008– ACCESS, Boston’s leading provider of financial aid advising services, has been selected as a 2009 Social Innovator by the Social Innovation Forum (www.socialinnovationforum.org) in recognition of its vision for social change, commitment to building a stronger organization and its innovative and results oriented approach “to ensure that low-income Boston students can get to and finish college successfully”. The Social Innovation Forum annually invites area nonprofits to embark on an intensive application and selection process designed “to help organizations begin to think critically about how to present its vision, core competencies, and revenue model.” Read more... |
